I had a patient sometime ago. He was thirteen years old but looked twenty three. Trust me, this is not an exaggeration. Okay…maybe slightly, but he was really obese. The Mother said he had been complaining of pain in his chest for a while now.
So…as part of the check up, i decided to slip in a Lipid profile test to check his cholesterol and Lipid levels. OMG! I wasn’t expecting what i found!
His bad cholesterol level was alarming high as with other parameters. When i asked the mother what does he eat? You can guess what she mentioned. Everything Junk was a favorite!
Dear Parents, Please…start early to teach your children to eat whole foods. The rate of childhood obesity, diabetes and even cancers are on the rise. And all the processed foods we consume and we give our children are part of the culprits.
Adopt a healthy lifestyle and your children will have no option than to fall in line! Children learn from what they see their parents doing.
